Decrease by every other peg and draw string cast off all the pegs. Make a pom pom or tassel and attach to the top of the hat. Also if your yarn came in on the red and it was thinner than expected simply start after the brim and knit however many rows and line the hat lightly sewing in as a lining.

  3. Beautiful hat! I tried making it and it came out okay. I followed your instructions step-by-step using the same yarn, except for the body. However, my brim is really loose. Any suggestions on how to make it tighter? Thanks!

    1. It will be loose, what I did was do a half lining of 10-15 rows and lightly sew in the at the upper end of the brim and that way the hat doesn't slide down. I've made 3 and did that with all of them.
