How to make homemade deodorant

Supply List:
Baking Soda
Coconut Oil (Or Good Skin Oil)
Essential Oil (Perfume Oils to be exact)
Small Bowl
Spoon
Small Cosmetic Storage Container

1/4 cup of baking soda
1 1/2 Tablespoons of Oil (adjust as needed for thickness and texture desired)
10 Drops of Essential Oils
Put in small bowl and use spoon to mix into paste or cream consistency, once achieved put into storage container and your done!!! Lasts anywhere from 3-6 months depending on amount of use.

How to Make Summer Soap

Supply List:
3 Cups of Lard
2 Cups of Shea Butter
1 1/12 Cups of Coconut Oil
1/2 Cup of Olive Oil

1 Cup of Lye
1 Cup of Cold Water
1 Cup of Goats Milk
1 Cup of Jewel Weed Tea

30 Drops Allspice, Clove,  Patchouli
20 Drops Lemon Eucalyptus, Citronella, Lemongrass
15 Drops Tea Tree. Sandalwood, Clary Sage

Follow instructions in video above.

To process your lard, put lard in large pot with water, bring to a boil 10 minutes, let cool, then scoop off solid lard into a storage container.

To make jewel weed tea, go out and cut up a jewel weed plant into a large pot add water and boil for 10 minutes. Let cool and strain out the plant.

 This is what your soap should look like color wise when it is removed from the molds.

For extra scent on your soap you can cook citrus rinds in a pot for an hour in your lard to get extra natural scent.

10 Drops of  Anise, Spearmint, Peppermint, and Ylang Ylang
5 Drops of Cinnamon with Cassia mix

Repeat process just like summer soap just using different essential oils. Also note for extra scent you can cook your lard with some pine needles, mint leaves, star anise, and cinnamon sticks for an hour.

Also if you would like to try Almond or Avacado oil in place of Olive it will still turn out the same. If you do not have shea butter try replacing with coconut oil or lard.

Quick Mix Vapor Rub

If you have ever been in a situation where you need a vapor rub in the middle of the night and no stores are open and there is no one to go get any, there is an alternative. I would suggest keeping these essential oils in your home for this very purpose. This is fast to make in minutes.

1 1/2 Tablespoon of coconut oil
1 Drop of Peppermint, Camphor, Clove, Cinnamon with Cassia
2 Drops of Menthol

Mix together in small cup rub on chest, and put in vaporizer for relief. It works I have used this on my child. It opens up for breathing in a quick hurry.

Note: I am not a physician, so please consult your doctor about this essential oil mix before using. 

I am all about natural chemical free cosmetics, I only use my own soap and deodorant. These soaps you can use to wash your hair. Great thing is all these recipes you know what is in them, and you can read the ingredients without struggle.

How to Cover a Bra

When covering a bra start with a corner of your fabric with the top corner of your bra. Start pinning the fabric to the top of the bra. Work in you triangle pleated area then pin the fabric to the bottom. Adjust fabric pinning around bra til as desired. Trim your fabric around the cup. Sew up your pleat first, then sew up the rest of the cup. Trim up the fabric some more. Repeat on the other side.

I love this pattern for general costuming for belly dancing. Have used the coat pattern plus the shimmy skirt pattern, and tie straps. I used pattern piece 11 to get my straps for the bra. The sides straps I cut and sewed together as is with a front and lining. I used 1 for the halter strap on each side folded in half and sewn together. Sew on your straps where desired. Add your hook and eyes for proper fit or tie it in place.

When doing sizes bigger than DDD just go to a 36 peg loom, work all pegs like above, on the single and double letters follow the general guide for D-DD but Decrease your pegs down to 16. Follow DDD when doing tripple cups with 36 peg loom, work all pegs like above and decrease down to 18pegs.
When making a belt using the panel make anywhere from 4-6 panels depending on your hip size using the A cup pattern. Add tassels to the ends for a nice touch. See image as example. If you have bigger hips in the 44-50in range make 6 panels.

Please feel free to ask question about this technique, but the hard part is find your original loops to put back on the pegs. Trick go to the next peg that hasn't been touched and follow the line to the previous to find your loop. You can also too all the scales first and then put the loops on the pegs and it is easy that way. Trick is figuring what works best for getting those original loops back. This is an advanced technique and I would not suggest this for a beginner but a more experience loomer.

Flower Hair Pin Ideas

Attaching pins to head bands and hats are wonderful ways to decorate your head. I use plenty for my dancing costumes from flowers, feathers, to skulls, and tassels.

Progession of a Pattern: Looming a Realistic Owl Hat

Awhile back I saw Helen Rodel's realistic owl hat, that was crocheted. I looked at it long and hard, and wanted to make one using looms, but with my own flare.
Originally starting small on a 24 peg knifty knitter loom using just E-Wrap I worked on the general shape. I figured to make the hat it would need to be loomed flat, and the eyes and front of the face would have to be sewn together while still being one piece. This is where casting off, and casting back on those pegs worked to get the eye area started.
Then working in the eye area was a whole other story. In the photo I was looking at they were a circular area, so I messed with it and mess with it, and realized I would have to do an increase of pegs( Overlap) and then work some rows to do a decrease, work some rows, and do another decrease removing all the pegs. There was the eye area, but not after several tries on the flower loom just working the eye area.
Then the back of the head, how to create a curve to fit the head, well went on the concept of the heal for a sock, but larger for a hat. By the third draft I had a basic concept of everything, now was time to add some texture to where the feathers of the head.
I chose something a little simple like the netted idea, liked it fine, but just wasn't happy enough with the 4th draft. By that point I had switched to the long looms and worked with the clips.
Well several months later after putting the pattern down, on Google+ someone wanted to know how in the heck if at all you could do the crocheted crocodile stitch on the looms. I looked at it and said "Yes" with a lot of thought and a try I used the concept I did for the ears of my stuff animals with a little tweeking and figured it out. Then I said hey that would look great on my owl hat I have been working on.
I went to a larger long loom and decided to add the crocodile stitch I figured out, and change the beak area a little to be more accurate. At this point I was looking at real owl heads for the project, and decided a snow owl would be awesome. I noticed the face was furry so added fur yarn to the eye area, and there you have it. The process.
So knifty knitter green long loom, with clips, plus using stitches like, crocodile stitch for looms, internal decrease, wrap and turn, overlap increase, E-Wrap, purl, and sew it together. I am really excited about the finished product, it makes me so happy. This is a very hard pattern, but if you would like to see a video of it in tutorial please leave comment below.
