  1. I found this pattern on Ravelry-it is so cute! Do you find that the pattern shows up batter with light colored yarn?

  2. This is very confusing & you do different on the video than what you wrote here.....Rows 10-13, you write to repeat Row 3 which is EW1, P1
BUT on the video, you do not do that! On Rows 10-13, you do EW2, P1, EW4, P1
You also do this for Rows15-16
    & whats Row 17 about???
    CONFUSING ;/
    So which is it???????

    1. This is very odd I never received a notification of the comment, I have gone in and made the corrections that were needed. I do so humbly apologize for the massive mistake in the pattern. Don't know how I managed it, but it is fixed now. I guess I was to zealous about posting the pattern and didn't go back to check for accuracy. I know this is completely frustrating, and am very sorry.

    2. What a lovely response to a not-so-lovely one. Nice to see someone taking the 'high road.' I'm a fan:)

  3. Also you do this with Rows 18 & 19...NOT the same as what you do in the video....

  4. I really like this hat, I did try it today for the first time, Im finding the video and pattern is still different.. Can you just tell me Which one is correct? My hat looks ok, but he (my owl) looks shorter than the one in your hat. So im wondering if I should have followed the pattern vs the video...? But also not only are rows missing in the video, you do a completely different thing on some rows.. Can you just let me know Which pattern is correct so I can try again? I appreciate your time, and all you do. Your patters rock.. Thank you.. :)

  5. The video is going to be the most accurate, mostly cause I am not the best pattern writer. But I didn't do the cage area around the owl all the way through on the video. If you want the cage area it will be written here on my blog, but the video shows the technique to do it. On the video I try to write in what comes next. If your owls are showing shorter you might be missing that you repeat a row more than once. I will go and check and make sure the video says repeat this row more times. For example at the mark of 10:15 it says to repeat the row you just did 3 more times. If you miss this it can make your owl short. I hope this was helpful.

  6. Can you give the adjusted pattern to add the cage area for the smaller green loom? I keep trying it just doesn't look right.

    1. Oh my I thought I had added the caged area option to the green loom. I will try and work up the pattern so you can add it. It is a little different cause you have 3 ew in between your owls. When you start to split the rows to create the cage the 1 in the middle you just ew while the ones on each side of it you move. If that makes a bit of sense. LOL. I will try and post the added. Thank you for you comment.

    2. Yes please do I need the cage for 36 pegs too. Also could you make a colour graph of the pattern? I'd like to do mine using two colours.

  7. This hat is very cute but I'm already frustrated. When I follow the instructions row by row, my hat does not look like yours. I haven't gotten to the owl part yet. I'm just doing the ribbed part. I'm making a child's hat so I did the fist 5 rows as you say but it looks really short compared to yours. I think the pattern would be more helpful if you mentioned how long the brim should be in inches and how long the owl part should be in inches.

    1. The hat in the picture is for an adult, so the brim will be shorter on a childs size. The owls will be shorter as well. I made a child hat, but the yarn I used was really fluffy, and didn't show the design as well as I would have liked, which is the reason there is no picture. I will see if I can get you some inches to help you as a guide on sizing.

  8. The childs brim about 2", Owls about 3.5" in height. Total height of childs hat 8".

    1. There is actually no simple way to convert it to a 38 peg loom. Sorry about that.

  11. I made my hat based on the pattern in the video. I had to stop at the beginning of the owl originally. I got to confused. But I tried to make this my first project but that was a mistake. I left it on my loom for a month. I made a kids beany on a smaller loom with a smaller Knifty Knitter and watched a video on making baby booty tenie shoes. I came back to this and was finally able to finish it! Now I am just deciding on my eyes for my owl. I used only 2 strands of a darker Autumn red and orange fluffy yarn so the body did not show so well but I am doing the eyes anyway. I am excited and I think it still looks quite good! Only my 3rd project. Not bad eh!

  13. Today I am starting 2 childrens hats! I am ao excited! The owl hat I made last time turned out so well. It is kind of dark so the owl is alittle hard to see, but it is still beautiful! And with the eyes I finally settled on it looks stunning! Thank you loommuse for this amazing pattern.

  15. I HAVE NOT STARTED YET OWL ADULT MY LOOM HAS 40 PEGS CAN I STILL DO THIS PATTERN

    ReplyDelete

    1. Remove the extra purl or EW at the end of the row. You will notice to adjust for the 41 peg there is a un even patterning in there, and it is usually that last peg. So it should be easier to make on the 40 than on the 41.

  16. How many buttons do I need for the owl's eyes? And what size? Thanks!

  17. I have tried making the owl hat several times. Do you have instructions for a right handed knitter. I cannot work out the owl cables. I work clockwise on the loom, whereas you work anti-clockwise.. Also I have watched the video several times and written the instructions for the lcc and the rcc..please help if you can. Have tried doing the cables in opposite direction , but , does not work out..

    1. Here is a trick for you on cables and reversing for right handed knitting. When you see instructions for the Left Cable Cross, use the method for the to do the Right Cable Cross, and if you see the Right Cable Cross do the Left Cable Cross technique. This should get you the ability to reverse the cable for the direction you need.

  20. What do you mean by the "cage" area?

  21. This is such a cute hat and thank you for sharing the instructions. Are there instructions for the 48 peg loom? If not is there a way to convert the 41 peg to a 48? I am new at looming and curious. If not I will do the 41. Thank you.

  22. Can you convert this to a long loom ?

  23. I loomed this on my CinDWood 48 peg Purple KK replacement loom. I just increased it by one owl, so instead of 5 owls I had six.
Also had to increase the amount of rows for the brim and the top. I used 2 strands of worsted weight and just mainly kept an eye on the measurements. Came out very nice thank you!!

  24. I tried to make this pattern, but I had to redo it several times, because the video was very fast and I had to read the written pattern, before I got it. Can I make a suggestion to redo the video and go a bit slower. My ears still aren't right and I couldn't figure it out.

    1. SteffieB...You can change the speed on all YouTube videos by clicking on "setting" looks like a gear and is at the right bottom of video screen. Change the speed to whatever you want (faster or slower). To go slower choose 0.75, 0.5, or 0.25.

  25. New to loom knitting, apologize in advance. Does this owl hat have to be done with triple strands or can it be done with single strand thicker yarn?
