COF Sew ends together sew, sew brim to hat. Mod Podge entire
hat to stiff. Note this stiffening process will take 4 to 5 days to completely
dry and stiffen.
Ever wanted not to hunt down a pattern in a specific size of foot. Maybe even want to make a sock fit a specific persons foot. Well here is a basic guide.
1. Trace the persons foot out in card paper if possible, a thick paper makes this easier.
2. Cut outline out.
3. Take your KB sock loom and adjust the marker to fit your cutout at the widest point. (This should be the ball of the foot.)
4. EW Cast On, then flat knit for 20 rows, pull your cast on loops back onto the pegs creating a small cuff area.
5. Then knit to the desired length of the cuff the person prefers. At this point make notes how many rows it took so you can know for the next sock.
6. Work your heel area by taking your cut out and placing the heel area up to the length wise section. Decide how many times you will need to wrap and turn before you hit the amount of pegs that the will not be wrapped and turned to be your heel. (See video for help)
7. Then work how ever many rows you will need to have to encompass the cut out length. (I will be adding later how to customize a toe area)
8. Cast off using the method in the video, or if you feel comfortable with it the kitchener stitch.
Don't forget to take notes on each section how many rows you have done for easier help in making the other sock.
Questions to ask when creating a stuffed animal
pattern
1: What are you making?
2: How much detail is in what you are making?
3: Can you reduce a certain amount of detail
without losing its distinct visual as to what it is?
4: What size stuffed animal do you want to make?
5: What loom will you require?
6: What color yarn will you need?
7: What kind of yarn thickness will you need?
8: What kind of stitches will you use?
9: Will you need a yarn to create a special
effect?
10: What are your basic shapes in your animal you
are creating?
11: What techniques might need to use to create
the shape?
12: Will you make your head vertically or
horizontally?
13: How many color changes will you need to do
and will this effect your way of going about making the animal?
After answering all these questions it is time to
start working up a 1st draft.
Options to help you do a first draft is to find a
pattern that is close to what you are making, or using several patterns that
have features of what you want for size.
Write it out and then go about making your draft.
(Note: You may want to try a mini size, and double or triple everything later
for the original, this way you don't have to waste supplies. I like to start
with a 12 peg loom and make adjustments to enlarge later.)
After you make your draft, start making notes of
adjustment on your 1st written out pattern.
Make another animal and see if you get what you
want. Do this process until you are satisfied with the results you have.
